Shippagan, the charms of a city shaped by the sea. It is also named New Brunswick's capital of the commercial fishing industry.
Here, you will find the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre where you can discover the vast array of fish and invertebrates inhabiting the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and the rivers and lakes of Altantic Canada.
For more than 50 years, to highlight the importance of the fishing industry in Shippagan, the New Brunswick Fisheries and Aquaculture Festival begins on the 2nd Saturday in July.
All year long, Shippagan offers many cultural activities through the "Maison de la Culture", as well as mini shows and art exhibitions from local artists in the "P'tite Église" (formerly the United Church) from July 15th and August 15th.
In winter, you are invited to the Ice Carnival to fully enjoy the seasonal activities (snow sculptures, ice sculptures, "le glacier" bar, outdoor music, bouncy houses, sleigh rides, fireworks, observation rally, pond hockey tournament, "washer" tournament, volleyball tournament, etc.). The Arpents de neige outdoor centre inc., on the enchanting site of Camping Shippagan, offers a large range of outdoor activities for everyone (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking, Santa's Village, kids' slides).
In summer, lovers of the great outdoors will adore the wonderful site of Camping Shippagan and will be in awe of the magnificent scenery surrounding the cycling trail and the coastline trail following the sea.
At all times, the Acadian hospitality and warmth of Shippagan will charm its visitors.
