Académie Sainte-Famille

The important work of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph in the field of education in New Brunswick is at the heart of the Académie Ste-Famille's reputation. 

The Sentier du Patrimoine

The Sentier du Patrimoine trail crosses an important part of the history of Tracadie. The route begins at the Académie Ste-Famille and lears to the cemetery of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph.

Lepers' cemetery

The heritage footpath leads us close to the river to the lepers’ cemetery where 59 tombs, 19 of which were young people under the age of 20.  In this special cemetery, one can find people of all ages and especially of different nationalities, namely Icelanders, Chinese, Russians, British, Acadians, one Scottish and one Assyrian.

Village Historique Acadien (VHA)

Come live Acadia! Discover the Acadian history from 1770-1949 through our captivating story tellers at the Village Historique Acadien, situated in Bertrand, near Caraquet. The 40 historical buildings illustrating the habits and customs of early Acadians have lots to tell you.
With its 40 friendly interpreters, and over 200 farm animals, the Village is bustling with activities for all ages. There's everything for a wonderful visit at the Village such as enjoying a lunch in a 1867 house, a lobster supper, a night at the Hôtel Château Albert, etc. Your visit will take you through discoveries you've never seen anywhere else before.

Saint-Simon Heritage and Cultural Interpretation Centre

The Saint-Simon Heritage and Cultural Interpretation Centre (Centre d'interprétation du patrimoine et de la culture de Saint-Simon), managed by Les Épaves de la baie de Saint-Simon, houses an exhibit on a French officer and captain, artifacts from shipwrecks in Nova Scotia, 300-million-years-old fossils found in the Caraquet area, an impressive collection of antique Limoges porcelain, an art gallery and a gift shop. 
At the centre’s China exhibition, unique in Canada, visitors will marvel at the beautiful Limoges porcelain pieces hand-painted by talented artists on various themes like birds, fruits, fish and people.

Cemetery of the Founders of Tracadie

This cemetery is located near the site of the first inhabitants of the houses and the first church, now all destroyed.

Documentation center Société Historique Nicolas-Denys

- Since 1973, the SHNB archives are preserved at Université de Moncton, campus de Shippagan, where the documentation centre is located. People interested in submitting old documents, photographs or any other material pertaining to Northeastern New Brunswick history can do so; these documents will be preserved by the SHND. The documentation centre has a vast collection of genealogy literary works and is open to anyone who wishes to do history or genealogy research.
